Overview

Rupin Pass, which connects the states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, is unquestionably one of India’s Grandest Cross-Over Treks, spanning over 65 kilometers. The trail’s twists and turns are like watching a massive theater curtain open, unveiling breathtaking scenery that leaves you speechless in its wake. There is never a boring moment once you are on the trail, whether you are hiking through dense forests of pine and rhododendron or meandering through a hanging village, traversing enormous glacial valleys or stumbling through the narrow and steep gully of Rupin Pass, sliding down snow chutes to Ronti Gad or climbing to the top of a waterfall!

Reaching a height of 4,650 meters, the Rupin Pass is an intermediate trek ideal for hikers who have completed an easy journey and want to challenge themselves. While the daily mileage is manageable and the elevation gain is consistent, there are certain obstacles on the path that necessitate a specialized skill set to effectively traverse the terrain.

The terrain is not the only thing that changes dramatically. Our avatars alter as we travel from campsite to campsite along the Rupin River. We think this is our favorite aspect of the walk, if we were to choose. The fact that you get to hike all the way from the Dhaula riverbed to the top of the Rupin Waterfall is what makes it unique! Few people can say that they have seen a river’s path as closely as those who have done the Rupin Pass Trek!
