If you wish to experience the high mountains at a comfortably low altitude, Pangarchulla, an amphitheater for the entire Garhwal Range, at 4,590M, is ideal. It has to be one of the few peaks that introduces you to challenges other than those that come with altitude in the Himalayas, with just the right amount of challenge and breathtaking vistas. Is it any surprise that it stands so confidently and sure of itself, making climbers sweat, with giants like Nanda Devi, the second-highest peak in India, Kamet, the third-highest peak in India, Dhronagiri, Hathi Ghoda, Chowkhamba, Mana, and Neelkanth, to name a few, standing guard like iron knights?
Until the last day, the route for Pangarchulla and Kauri Pass stays unchanged. You get an unhindered view of Nanda Devi to your left and the summit of Pangarchulla to your right, perched above a lush forest full of pine trees, as you go to Dhak, the head route for this amazing peak. This 6-day walk covers a lot of ground in a brief amount of time.
