Overview
Dayara Bugyal, Uttarakhand’s largest snow-covered area, is a picture-perfect representation of the Himalayan winter. This quick five-day hike stays true to its name, a Bugyal, which means “meadows.” This alpine meadow, which is still covered in wildflowers in the summer, transforms into the largest snowfield you’ve ever seen in the winter, extending as far as the eye can see.
At a stunning 3,750 meters above sea level, DayaraBugyal offers sweeping views of the Garhwal range and dense forests covered in a fresh layer of snow. You get a taste of the distinct culture of high-altitude trekking at the start of the walk in the self-sufficient village of Raithal in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.
